Yes, the PSU and everything else was hooked up correctly. Clear CMOS button was not illuminated either. After about 30 attempts of changing settings in the BIOS, it finally wouldn't work, tried to install new BIOS using Flashback, Flashback button wouldn't even light up. BIOS was 400-series, said the BIOS was trying to be recovered at first, and then overclocking failed even though it was not being overclocked, and only reported 8Gb of RAM installed out of 16Gb. Played with it for 4 days before I gave up. I got my store credit and dropped a huge amount of additional $ on a RVE, a 6-core unlocked CPU, and 16Gb (8Gb X 2config) of Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4-2400 RAM.įirst board would not fully boot. Upgraded to a 4790K and a Maximus VI Extreme, board CPU socket was damaged (in the box, not by me) and had to be returned to Microcenter. It's my daughter's system now, running a 3770K at 4.87GHz on water.
Could OC that beast to unreal numbers and be rock steady. My last working ROG system was a Maximus IV Extreme-Z, and quite possibly the best product I've ever had. I've been building computers since '92, and OC'ing for years. First, to avoid flames, I've been using ROG boards since they came out (yeah, I'm OLD), and with the small exception of a few duds, have always been really pleased.
